FAQ

“I’ve never been to a counselor before, and I’m nervous. What can I expect?”

It’s ok to feel nervous- sometimes it’s hard talking about certain topics.  Pamela does her best to help everyone feel welcome and relaxed. On the first visit, she will spend some time getting to know you, and you will not be pressured to answer any questions you’re not comfortable with. Most people leave their first session feeling much more relaxed, and even relieved!

“Do you accept insurance?”

Pamela is not currently on any insurance panels except TriCare Humana. However, she is considered an “out of network” provider. This means you can submit a statement of paid sessions to your insurance company. Please call your insurance company to find out what your policy covers.

“I’m not really sure about my gender and/or sexuality. Is that ok?”

Of course it’s ok- this is one of the reasons you may feel you need to talk with someone, to help sort through your confusing feelings. Pamela can help guide you through this process so it doesn’t feel so overwhelming.

“Should I come once a week?”

Most new clients find that weekly visits are the most helpful. Eventually, visits can change to every other week, or even once a month. Pamela’s goal  is to work at your pace, and your comfort level.

“What if I have an appointment scheduled and I can’t make it?”

Pamela requires at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel. Without 24 hours’ notice you will be responsible for the full session feel.

“Do I have to talk about my childhood?”

No, not if you don’t want to. Remember, this is your time,  and it’s important that you are comfortable.

“When can I start?”

You can typically start within one to two weeks. Openings are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Each session is 50 minutes long.
